Primary casing cementing jobs are relied upon until abandonment. Poor quality and/or ineffective jobs are sometimes difficult to identify and repair. The result of imperfectly conceived and executed jobs can be very costly. This course provides a comprehensive treatment of all aspects of planning, executing and evaluating primary cementing operations so that expensive repair jobs and lost production are minimized. The subject of remedial or squeeze cementing operations to repair failed or imperfect primary jobs is handled in detail including design, execution and evaluation. The importance of cementing materials and additives is recognized and dealt with, however emphasis is placed on executing proper procedures and operations quality control over the drilling, drilling fluids and cementing. A comprehensive series of check lists has been developed to help prevent problems. The course includes a number of class exercises handled in a workshop manner. A manual and an extensive list of references are provided.
